Your Team is key to ensure project success

Below I share six key criteria for teams and team members to deliver successful projects. As a team manager one continuously work on these, together with the team, to remove impediments and to improve.

Trust

Team members need high trust levels within the team. Higher confidence levels will lead to a lower desire to micromanage.
A Team manager works on giving and building trust in the team to secure positive outcomes and lower stress.

Adaptability

It’s critical to be able to respond effortlessly to change. A team that can deal with change and have good internal processes to do so will experience less friction to adapt. This criteria is linked to trust and putting the right people together.

Learners

Team members need to have a continual learning mentality and we should hire for these, or at least secure the preconditions. The team members can then try new technologies, experiment, play around and stay relevant in their field.

The Right People

Don’t put people in your team who are like you. Go for diversity of skill-sets, mix up introverts and extraverts. Build a team than is up to the job and can do the different parts of the work needed.

Empowerment

Team members are equipped with the relevant resources, tools and mandates needed to carry out their roles. The team members  have the freedom to act and implement certain decisions.

Conflict resolution

Conflicts are a good sign! High-performance teams are able to deal with conflicts and come to decisions fast. They do not work in silo’s and communicate with each other based on trust.
